FARMER STREET RESIDENCES

Completed in 2022 and shortlisted for the 2023 Houses Awards: House in a Heritage Context, Farmer Street Residences brings back to life a piece of Richmond’s history, the adaptive reuse of the historically significant stables complex at 19-21 Farmer Street, Richmond dating from 1910.

The former stables were adapted and rearranged into two sizeable, modern homes, where the original complex was composed of windowless brick buildings, arranged around an open courtyard, the new form continued and extended this approach. Inserting more courtyards and skylights to bring in natural light, as well as incorporating luxuries not often found in densely populated inner city such as a private plunge pool and basement cellar and entertaining area.
